Western Maryland Scenic Railroad’s Christmas City Express

Take a magical journey aboard the Christmas City Express! It’s a generational storybook experience departing from Cumberland, with a little holiday magic for everyone involved.  During this three hour journey, you will experience the Christmas City Express, a magical story of a little girl’s journey aboard our own Western Maryland Scenic Railroad on Christmas Eve.  Hear the story, meet the elves, sing carols, take part in the elf naming ceremony, play reindeer games, and of course, meet Santa and Mrs. Claus- and much, much, more.

This holiday season, step inside the studio of a 1940s live-radio broadcast as FSU’s Theatre and Dance and 91.9 WFWM Public Radio bring you World War II Radio Christmas.  In this heart-warming and family-friendly production, fun jingles, live sound effects, and period songs fill the airwaves between moving, true-life stories of male and female soldiers and the families and communities affected by their absence.

Acting Out for ALS Presents A Christmas Carol

Acting Out for ALS proudly presents the musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ holiday classic, A Christmas Carol. A cast of more than 70 brings you the tale of a cold-hearted miser whose life is changed by spirits who teach him to learn from the past, live in the present, and create a better future. Show dates are Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2 at 8 pm, and Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2 pm at Mountain Ridge High School Auditorium in Frostburg, Maryland. All proceeds from the show will be donated to ALS warrior, Annette Kenner, a resident of Gilmore who has recently begun her battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling (240) 257-6322. Ticket prices are $12 for ages 13 and up, $8 for ages 2-12, and free for under 2 and on a lap. Raffle items and 50-50 tickets will also be sold before the show and at intermission.

Storybook Holiday

Downtown Frostburg

Downtown Frostburg’s most magical holiday celebration!  Bundle up, and join in the winter festivities of this year’s Storybook Holiday!  Start the day off with breakfast, where elves are there to serve and entertain you (tickets sold in advance).  Immediately after, join the elves outside to cheer on your favorites during the traditional Elf Olympics, followed by a magical parade down Main Street.  Then, come see City Place turned into a winter wonderland, filled with family fun activities for all.  Throughout the day, elves will be hosting storybook readings, followed by the annual cookie contest.  End the day by watching the classic holiday movie, Holiday Inn, at our wonderful Palace Theatre.
