Coffee with a Writer
Kristen’s is the
Kristen’s is the story of someone who has lived a little bit of life in strange places and has finally found herself in the right place to write about it. She worked for many years as a researcher in tropical forests, including the Bolivian Amazon, the Miskitu Coast of Nicaragua, near the DMZ of Vietnam and in the savanna of Ghana. She co-founded the New Orleans Fringe Theater Festival and ran it for several years, she fought the oil industry with giant puppets and parades as an arts activist, and she started an internet company in the chaotic days of the dot-com boom.
Since moving to western Maryland, she has been able to concentrate on writing, and she found here the collaborators and inspiration that she needed. She has written plays, puppet shows, short stories and musicals, including The Dirty Little Mermaid, The Snallygaster, and The Ballad of Boo and Lou, which have been performed locally and regionally.
She’ll be performing her one-person musical puppet show for kids and adults, The Ballad of Boo and Lou, a story of star-crossed caterpillar street performers. Come see the show and talk about writing and why this is a great place to do it.
