Crossing genres from jazz to
Crossing genres from jazz to classical to funk, beatbox saxophone innovator Derek Brown presents an upbeat evening of music. Crossing genres from jazz to classical to funk, without looping or electronic effects, Brown’s unique playing style has been hailed by music critics from National Public Radio, Downbeat Magazine and Jazziz.
Joining Derek will be performers from faculty members from the FSU Department of Music and the WVU Potomac State College/Community Jazz Ensemble. Due to a scheduling conflict, the FSU Jazz Orchestra will no longer perform at this event.
The event features informal table seating, comfortable couch and armchair seating, and food and beverage options.
Community members are invited to observe Brown as he leads a 3 p.m. master class with student musicians on Oct. 24 in the Pealer Recital Hall. Space is limited.
