Applications Closed for 2025

Frostburg First is pleased to announce the fourth year of the Frostburg Honors Banner Project. For the past three years, loved ones have honored the community’s service members in the United States Armed Forces, past and present, by displaying banners in the Frostburg Main Street District.  Last year, FrostburgFirst added a First Responder category, and we were delighted to offer this option again this year!

Honors Banners are available in two categories: United States Armed Forces Service Members and First Responders. Applications may be submitted by current residents of Frostburg for past and current Service Members or First Responders. Applications may also be submitted by non-residents on behalf of current or former residents of Frostburg. Banners will be on display throughout the Frostburg Main Street District from Memorial Day (May 26, 2025) to Veterans’ Day (November 11, 2025). Banners will be available for purchasers to pick up after Veterans’ Day. Banners must be picked up in person. Frostburg Honors, FrostburgFirst, and the City of Frostburg are not responsible for shipping banners or any damage sustained to banners during display or storage.

Honorees should be a current or past resident of Frostburg, or an immediate family member of a current Frostburg resident. FrostburgFirst reserves the right to accept applications for honorees with other types of connections to the City at its discretion.  Applications are chosen on a first-come, first-served basis with a maximum of 70 banners available. Banners are only available through purchase – there are no other means of banner selection.

Banner purchase prices start at $180, or $75 to rehang a previous year’s banner. The cost covers the production, hardware, installation, and removal of the banners. Any remaining proceeds will be donated to FrostburgFirst operations and set aside for future programs. Applications for 2026 banners will open in March 2026.

The project was brought to FrostburgFirst by local residents Kim Raley and Melissa Wilt. Kim and Melissa are proud mothers to members of the armed forces. Melissa stated, “It has become a passion of mine…to honor my son and all local current military and veterans.” Together, they have created a local online community and are the driving force behind the Frostburg Honors project. Kim shared, “We are very thankful for the support from the City of Frostburg and especially FrostburgFirst, Steltek Graphics, and McClarran & Williams for coming onboard to help see this project through. It makes folks like me proud to call Frostburg home.” Stevens Electrical is graciously donating time and resources to install the 2025 banners in time for Memorial Day.
