Hello! I am Ellie Ness and I am the new intern here at FrostburgFirst! I am a senior at Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. I am a communication major with a concentration in public relations. Additionally, I am pursuing a certificate in global and intercultural communication. On campus I am involved in Sigma Sigma Sigma as the Alumnae Relations Manager and Rock PRSSA as the Special Events Chair. I am also a part of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Inclusive Excellence Team, which promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging within collegiate Greek life.
In my free time, I can be found learning new languages on Duolingo, watching Formula 1 races or traveling somewhere new. I love learning and gaining new opportunities. In May, I was able to take part in a study abroad trip to Stockholm, Sweden with my Media Relations and Crisis Communication class. The trip allowed me to learn about different work environments, Swedish culture and public relations from a global perspective. I was also able to test out my limited Swedish speaking abilities!
After graduating, I plan on working for a PR agency in Europe before entering into political communication. I am very fascinated with global politics and would love to work as a political correspondent or press officer after gaining some experience.
As a Western Maryland resident, I love coming to Frostburg anytime there is an event or if I need something good to eat. I can’t wait to start interacting with local businesses and helping promote the great opportunities Frostburg has to offer!
