The Law Office of Jayci Shaw Duncan celebrates its 4th anniversary this month, after opening in Frostburg on June 1st, 2015! While it is a relatively new presence in Downtown Frostburg, Jayci has been practicing law in Western Maryland for over 20 years. After two decades of working for a firm in Cumberland, Jayci decided to open her own private practice. Opening it in Frostburg was “an easy decision,” said Jayci, “because it’s where I live, where my husband works, and my children go to school.” She moved to her current location, 2 West Main St, in October of 2016. Her current building is a focal point of Frostburg with an extensive history. Originally erected in 1910 as The Citizens National Bank, the building dominates the corner of Main and Broadway. It has housed several banks, the Potomac Edison appliance store, and the Mountain City Center for the Arts before The Law Office of Jayci Shaw Duncan made it home in 2016.

“Many in the legal community were skeptical of the move out of Cumberland,” described Jayci, “but it has been a move that increased my business.” Jayci specializes in real estate matters, estate planning and estate administration matters, and general business matters. She currently employs two people; Sheri DeVore, a paralegal who assists with real estate closings, and Christy Wagner, a legal assistant who deals with administrative responsibilities.

Jayci adores Frostburg and loves “the true sense of community which [she feels] each and every day by living and working in this beautiful place.” She serves a member of the City of Frostburg Planning Commission, is very involved with the Frostburg United Methodist Church, and sponsors community teams and events. She is also very active at Mountain Ridge High School with the cheerleaders and the Performing Arts Parent Association since her daughters are participants.

The Law Office of Jayci Shaw Duncan is the latest in a long historical line of community-based businesses to be housed in the Citizens Bank building. With her reputation for personal service, trusted experience, and commitment to community Jayci is sure to experience long-term success in Downtown Frostburg.
