FrostburgFirst is delighted to announce that current staff member Dana Bridges has been promoted to the newly created full-time position of Events and Promotions Coordinator. As part of their new duties, Dana will serve as the primary coordinator for all FrostburgFirst events and promotions.

Since November of 2018, Dana has served as the part-time Marketing and Communications Coordinator at FrostburgFirst. “Dana has been an invaluable asset to our operations and the continuing development of our promotional efforts,” says executive director Deirdre Robertson. “Dana’s experience in organizing events, creativity, and the strong relationships they have built with local businesses and artists will continue to help FrostburgFirst grow and move forward.” The promotion was made possible through grant funding from Maryland State Arts Council and the Main Street Improvement Program through the MD Department of Housing and Community Development, as well as the support of the FrostburgFirst Board of Directors.

“I am elated to have the opportunity to grow and to continue to promote and assist in building community events in my hometown. I feel very lucky to have grown up in a place I love and to have built, and to continue to build, strong relationships with my community,” says Dana of the new position with FrostburgFirst. “I want to thank Deirdre and the FrostburgFirst Board of Directors for the opportunity.”

Dana is a familiar face in downtown Frostburg. In addition to their position at FrostburgFirst, Dana is the assistant director at Mountain City Traditional Arts and the annual Frostburg State University Appalachian Festival. A graduate of FSU, they are also regularly involved with the local theatre scene and are directing the upcoming staging of “Our Town” for the Embassy Theatre.

Dana’s promotion makes it possible for FrostburgFirst to explore adding new events and promotions to the calendar. Currently, downtown Frostburg businesses are participating in FrostburgFirst’s first annual “Summer Events” promotion, including Second Saturdays, held every second Saturday of the month through October, and Moonlight Madness, held on the last Friday of each month through September. The next Second Saturday will be held on July 10 throughout downtown Frostburg with an outdoor performance from Sam DeMartino, local vendors set up in the Frostburg Museum courtyard, and specials and promotions from participating businesses.
