FrostburgFirst Announces Arts Walk 2018 Activities
This year’s event reports record numbers of participating artists and performers

Meet local artists, catch live performances and demonstrations, attend specialty workshops, and make your own creations at the Frostburg Arts Walk 2018!

This year’s Arts Walk is scheduled for Saturday, April 28 from 3 – 8 PM in Downtown Frostburg. Designed to be a walking arts tour, attendees can expect a jam-packed evening with a wide array of entertainment for the whole family.

Our artists include painters, photographers, metalworkers, jewelers, potters, seamstresses, woodworkers, soap makers, and more. More than 50 artists and craftspeople will be selling their wares in 36 participating businesses and downtown locations. Over 75 musicians and performers will also share their talents throughout the day at several indoor and outdoor stages around town.

There is lots of fun to be had for the kids, too! Visit the sidewalk chalk station, make fun crafts with Evergreen Heritage Center on the Armstrong Insurance patio or at the Frostburg Public Library from 3 – 5 PM (don’t miss the Library’s children’s book giveaway during that time!), or board the ArtsBus to make your own ribbon wand.  End the evening with a free screening of Trolls at the Frostburg United Methodist Church at 7 PM, complete with free food and drinks.

Other Arts Walk activities include the unveiling of the winning designs of the Frostburg Lamppost Banner Contest, the grand opening of the TALLDOOR Gallery (89 E. Main Street), a sneak peek at the new Wholesome Harvest Co-Op (30 W. Main Street), and a chance to reimagine a vacant storefront at 53 E. Main Street.

FrostburgFirst is also eager to announce an app that has been created to help attendees navigate the many displays and activities taking place during Arts Walk.  The app contains artist bios and set-up locations, a schedule of events, and three photo-based scavenger hunts.  The grand prize winner of the scavenger hunt will win a 9.7-inch iPad, and three additional winners will receive gift baskets filled with gift cards, coupons, and local artwork. More information about the app is forthcoming.

Having earned a designation as Maryland’s 18th Arts and Entertainment District in 2009, Frostburg’s Arts Walk is held annually to showcase the talents of local artists and craftsmen.

“This year promises to be our biggest and best Arts Walk yet,” said Bethany Doyle, Interim Main Street Manager. “With more participating artists and businesses than ever before, it is exciting to see this event continue to grow and flourish.”

Arts Walk is sponsored by FrostburgFirst, the Maryland State Arts Council, and the Allegany Arts Council. Most special events and activities are free, and many Frostburg businesses will offer Arts Walk discounts, specials, and raffle opportunities.
