Pulled Pork Nachos at The Toasted Goat

For several years now, the annual Frostburg Shamrock Shuffle took place during the week of St. Patrick’s day. This year, due to COVID-19 guidelines, the Shuffle could not be held, but we were determined to provide an event to support local businesses! The result was Frostburg’s first Restaurant Week, called “Bite of the Burg.” This event encouraged safe local dining. Most Frostburg restaurants had specials and discounts throughout the week, and many retail shops offered discount days and discounts for supporting the restaurants during the week.

The event itself had three discount days: 10% off for first responders & veterans on March 16th, 10% off for students with student ID on March 17th, and 10% off for seniors on March 18th. Several businesses participated in these discount days such as: Mountain City Coffeehouse and Creamery, Princess Restaurant, The Beach Club, The Toasted Goat, and Sand Springs Saloon & Steakhouse. Many businesses featured their own deals and specials throughout the week as well, giving the community a lot of delicious choices!

Now that the event is over but the local restaurants that make our Main Streets thrive still need our support. Supporting your local eateries is a great way to show your neighborhood some love. It can be anything from grabbing a slice of pizza, picking up a coffee and breakfast sandwich curbside, or getting your favorite meal delivered (for the third time this week). That’s the power of good food – it can bring us together, even when we’re staying apart.

When you dine small, you’re not just supporting your neighborhood favorites — you’re helping to invest in your community. The money you spend supports the restaurants that then spend money elsewhere in the downtown and the surrounding area. As we move into Spring and more restaurants are able to offer outdoor dining and take-out options be sure to consider a locally owned restaurant when planning your weeks meals. If you aren’t in the mood for take-out then hop on social media and give a good review to your favorite places! Every community member makes an impact!

Thanks to all the amazing restaurants and community members who made Bite of the Burg Frostburg Restaurant Week delicious and deal filled! Please continue to Show Off Your Good Taste and support Downtown Frostburg businesses by eating local!
