Folk and Traditional Irish Singing Workshop with Karan Casey

On Saturday, September 17 at 3 p.m., the Cultural Events Series at Frostburg State University will present a free Appalachian Festival workshop, “Folk and Traditional Irish Singing Pedagogy,” with Irish musician Karan Casey. During the hour-long program, songs will be “teased out” as participants listen, learn and explore together. Orality, ornamentation and voice placement, along with collecting and sourcing songs, will be discussed. The workshop, taking place on the FSU Upper Quad during the festival’s daytime activities, is open to all ages and no reservations are required.
